Miller Time offers several trips to fish the Florida Keys. Ranging from 1/2 day charters, to full day and 10 hour extreme, Miller Time Sportfishing offers a comprehensive list of fishing trip types and trip lengths to cater to any occasion! Some species

We clean, filet and bag the fish for you!

Bring an extra ice chest to take the fish with you or have one of several local companies ship the fish home.
There are plenty of local restaurants that will cook it up for you that day!

Below are the most popular fish we will target on a charter and when they are in season. Some species are catch and release only. Mounting of release species is available through Gray Taxidermy. Sailfish islamorada sport fishing

Sailfish (Istiophorus albicans)

Sailfish can be caught in Florida waters year round, but excellent fishing between April and October. Sailfish can reach 3 m (9.8 ft) in length, and the maximum reported is 4.55 m (14.9 ft) in length and 650 kg (1,430 lb) in weight. The daily bag limit for swordfish is none (catch and release) mounting is available.

Marlin islamorada sport fishing

Marlin (Makaira nigricans)

Marlins can be caught in Florida waters year round, but excellent fishing between April and October. Marlins, similar to swordfish, can reach 3 m (9.8 ft) in length, and the maximum reported is 4.55 m (14.9 ft) in length and 650 kg (1,430 lb) in weight. The daily bag limit for Marlins is none (catch and release) mounting is available.

Swordfish (Xiphias gladius)

Swordfish can be caught in Florida waters year round, but excellent fishing between April and October. Swordfish, commonly known as billfish, reach 3 m (9.8 ft) in length, and the maximum reported is 4.55 m (14.9 ft) in length and 650 kg (1,430 lb) in weight. The daily bag limit for Swordfish is one per person or four per vessel.

Wahoo (Acanthocybium solandri)

Wahoo is a scombrid fish found worldwide in tropical and subtropical seas. It is best known to sports fishermen, as its speed and high-quality flesh make it a prize game fish. In Hawaii, wahoo are known as “Ono” which means ‘tasty fish’. Specimens have been recorded at up to 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) in length, and weighing up to 83 kg (183 lb). Growth can be rapid. One specimen tagged at 5 kg (11 lb) grew to 15 kg (33 lb) in one year. Wahoo can swim up to 60 mph (97 km/h). They are some of the fastest fish in the sea.

Dolphin islamorada sport fishing

Dolphin fish (Coryphaena hippurus)

Dolphinfish (Mahi Mahi) can be caught year round, but the best season is April through December. Dolphinfish, commonly known as mahi-mahi, is a pelagic, off-shore species that prefers warm waters (above 68 degrees) and water depths greater than 80 feet. Adults eat bait fish, flying fish, squid and crabs. Dolphin is undoubtedly one of Florida’s most beautiful marine species and a favorite seafood item for many people. The record dolphin caught is 81lbs! The bag limit for dolphin fish is ten per person.

Grouper Islamorada sport fishing

Grouper (Epinephelus morio)

Grouper can be caught year round, but the best season is December to June. The red grouper is an opportunistic feeder dieting on xanthid and portunid crabs, juvenile spiny lobster, and snapping shrimp, with the occasional fish. Red grouper is about 125 cm and weighs 23 kg or more and is typically reddish-brown color with many white spots. When aggravated, these fish can very rapidly change coloration patterns, with the head or other parts of the body turning completely white, and the white spots appearing more intense. The bag limit for grouper is Three grouper for the boat.

Red Snapper (Lutjanus purpureus)

Red snapper is generally light red, with more intense pigment on the back. It has 10 dorsal spines, 14 soft dorsal rays, three anal spines and eight to 9 anal soft rays. Adults range between 24 inches to 40 inches and have been found to reach ages of 100+ years. The bag limit for red snapper is 2 per person.

Yellowtail Snapper (Ocyurus chrysurus)

Yellowtail are a common fish in Florida waters and found at depths of from near the surface to 180 meters (590 ft), though mostly between 10 and 70 m (33 and 230 ft). This species can reach a length of 86.3 cm (34.0 in), though most do not exceed 40 cm (16 in). Yellowtail snapper are typically caught in 30–120 ft of water on and around reefs and other structure. Yellowtail are characterized by their blueish body and prominant yellow stripe, spots and tail.

Albacore Tuna (Thunnus alalunga)

Albacore tuna can be caught year round, but the best season is April through December.
Albacore tuna migrates incredible distances through it’s life and has been known to dive to depths over 660ft. Its average size is about 90–100 cm and can weigh up to 40 kg.

King Mackeral (Scomberomorus cavalla)

The king mackerel is a medium-sized fish, typically encountered from five to 14 kg (30 lb), but is known to exceed 40 kg (90 lb). The entire body is covered with very small, hardly visible, loosely attached scales.

Cobia islamorada sport fishing

Cobia (Rachycentron canadum)

Cobia are best caught in Florida waters between October and May.
They reach a maximum length of 2 m (78 in) and maximum weight of 78 kg (172 lb), the cobia has an elongated fusiform (spindle-shaped) body and a broad, flattened head. The eyes are small and the lower jaw projects slightly past the upper jaw. Cobia is a favorite sport fish for many shoreline and off-shore anglers because it is one of the few species that are found throughout Florida’s marine environment. The daily bag limit for Cobia is one per person per day or six per vessel.

AmberJack (Seriola dumerili)

Amberjack can be caught year round, but best season is January through May. Amberjack are extremely strong fighters with great endurance. The species is very strongly associated with wrecks and artificial reefs in waters that exceed 60 feet in depth. Amberjack swim in schools and feed on baitfish, squid and crabs. Anglers typically use 50 to 100 pound tackle, but lighter tackle can also be used in many situations. Amberjack are not shy or picky, so you can make all the noise you want, and almost any lively baitfish will be readily accepted.

Blacktip Shark islamorada sport fishing

Shark (Carcharhinus limbatus)

Many variety of sharks can be caught year round in Florida waters, but excellent February through July. Blacktip sharks (shown in the image) can be caught up to 5ft and is distinguished by it’s black markings at the ends of most of its fins. Sharks are extremely strong fighters with great endurance. The daily bag limit is one shark per person per day and there is an overlapping vessel limit of 2 sharks.
