Welcome Aboard!

Miller Time is a 2001/2016 44’ foot Marlago made by Jefferson yachts. Jefferson built yachts for over 50 years. She is one of the fastest, cleanest, most modern charter fishing guide boats in the Florida Keys. Our 44′ Marlago gives you a first-class fishing experience in what is known as “The Fishing Capital of The World.” Miller Time’s wide beam makes for spacious accommodations, is fully air conditioned with a 360-degree view in the upper salon and offers a stable, smooth ride even in choppiest waters. Whether you are looking for a leisurely fishing trip with the kids and family or you are looking to compete at the top level in a tournament, she is perfect for your Islamorada fishing adventure.
about the boat 1

Her interior accommodations include a full sized, air-conditioned, stand up head (bathroom). She has a freezer and refrigerator in the lower salon for your food and drinks. There is a huge 75 quart YETI cooler in the cockpit area that will hold over 2 cases of drinks with plenty of room for ice. The lower salon has 2 couches with enough room to lie out if a nap is in order after hauling in all your fish. The expanding dining table will accommodate several for lunch in the lower salon.

As of April 2016, we returned to the water after 3 months of improvements that included complete installation of brand new remanufactured 3208 Caterpillar Turbo engines generating 900 horse powers to the screws and other numerous upgrades were done during that time. We have installed new built in live wells and bait wells allowing us to carry over twice the amount of live bait and several varieties. We have upgraded the electronics by adding a new touch screen Garmin bottom machine with a 36 mile live color radar to complement our existing unit so we can now run a full time machine just for marking fish. While out of the water, we did a full bottom job, which included painting the bottom along with a new hull paint job and signage. Insigne glass was replaced upstairs. We have ordered and anticipate a July arrival of a new upper salon tackle center. These upgrades represent over $100,000 in improvements this year alone.

If you haven’t noticed by now we are very proud of her and we hope you will come fishing with us and enjoy the Miller Time as much as we do!

Fishing Reels on Miller Time

Spinning Tackle
Diawa Black and Gold 30’ and 60’s
From Yellow tails to Sailfish to Mahi, the BG Series covers it all.
No one is harder on tackle and no one expects more from it than we do at Miller Time. We could by any spinning reel out there. The only reel that meets our expectations consistently, reliably, time after time is the Daiwa BG Series. As hard as we fish, even with routine maintenance, it’s amazing that any reel can hold up to it. We have some BG’s that are over 8 years old and still going strong. You just can’t expect more from a reel. They will eventually wear out. And as they do we will continue to replace them with BG’s.

Big Game Reels
Penn internationals 30’s, 50’s and 80’s
First built in 1967, The Penn International and Penn International Series reels are probably the most popular big game reels in use for standup fishing in the world. They may cost a little more but are built like a brick and will stand the test of time. The iconic gold reel is known by anglers around the world as the standard in sport fishing.

Meet The Crew

Captain Billy
Captain Billy
For Capt. Billy growing up in Key West during the 60’s is where it began. At age 11, he caught his first wahoo; 78 lbs and 78 inches, less than 2 miles into the Atlantic from a converted PT boat. The fish was hooked as so was he. Many wahoo, sails, marlin, dolphin, snappers and groupers would follow. The captain has fished all over the lower latitudes but it wasn’t until the 2006 Rolex/IGFA Bill fishing tournament in Cabo San Lucas that he made a decision to run his own boat. Based on all he had seen, the areas he had fished; the finest, most consistent year round sport fishing and finest sport fishermen were close to his roots in Florida. For 3 years, he fished Florida almost exclusively and began the search for the area, the boat, the marina and the captains that he wanted. In 2014, after over 40 years of fishing, he made the commitment to buy his boat and bring his knowledge and experience to the Miller Time Sportfishing. The captain has one son, lives in Islamorada, Fl. and has a home in Austin, Texas.
Dave and Hellen
Captain Dave & Helon
Capt. Dave Morris is a third generation fisherman from South Florida. He began his career sportfishing in Islamorada over 30 years ago. His passion as a Sportfisherman has allowed him to fish tournaments from Ocean City, MD to the Gulf of Mexico, from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to the Bahamas and everywhere in between. He has won numerous tournaments such as Bertram-Hatteras Shootout in Walkers Cay, Bahamas, Cheeca Lodge Presidential Sailfish Tournament in Islamorada, Bud n’ Mary’s Memorial Day Classic in Islamorada, and Emerald Coast Billfish Classic in Orange Beach, Alabama just to name a few. After a failed attempt at mainland retirement, he returned home to Islamorada in 2011 with his wife, Helon, and their crew of unruly Dachshunds.
Captain Tony Nagel
Master Captain Tony Nagel
Tony was born with a fishing rod in hand while living at the shore all of his life. He has been sport fishing since he was a young child. Growing up on the seas gave him the advantages and knowledge to make him the great fisherman he is today. Fishing with many great fishermen, he learned many skills as well as custom rod building. His love of sport fishing adventures has brought him to many different locations and tournaments from Montauk Point to the Canyons off New Jersey to Ocean City Maryland, as well as Costa Rica and Dominican Republic to name a few. All while learning different and valuable fishing techniques along the way. Tony is personable and is excellent at assisting seasoned fisherman as well as teaching new beginners the basics of fishing, making them comfortable with their fishing experience while helping them catch fish.
Tony and his wife (fishing partner) Janice are finally calling Islamorada their home. Residing in Lower Matecumbe Key

We appreciate you fishing with us! There are many boats to choose from. At Miller Time we believe we have the nicest boat and best crew you can find. We hope you fish with us many days in the future as well. Remember that we earn our stripes every day and at the end of the day we are in competition with every boat on the dock when we all pull in. Your captain and Crew wants your catch to be “high hook” (best catch) on the dock. We will use everything in our bag of tricks to make it happen. But it is fishing not catching! We can guarantee you nothing but a day on the water with a hard working captain and crew doing our best every day.

All prices quoted exclude the reasonable and customary 20% tip for the mate. You may tip the mate yourself in cash or you may add it to your method of payment and the end of the trip. So, please don’t forget your mate. He does the majority of work on the boat and will try his best to make your trip a positive, successful experience and bountiful memory.
Now let’s go fishing!
